As part of their commitment to improving internal processes, Innovus turned their attention to their Accounts Payable operations, a traditionally time-consuming and resource-heavy area of the business.

The challenge

Like many growing businesses, Innovus' AP team faced high volumes of supplier invoices and a slow, manual process for inputting, matching, and posting them into their finance system, MRI QUBE. Processing a single invoice, even when fully matched to a supplier and PO, could take a team member 2 to 3 minutes to complete. To manage the workload, Innovus had employed six full-time contractors dedicated solely to invoice entry and matching. This was costly, inefficient, and left little time for the AP team to focus on value-add tasks or continuous improvement.

The solution

Working closely with Kerry Tattersal, Innovus' AP lead, Stratas implemented an AP automation solution underpinned by ABBYY Vantage, integrated directly with MRI QUBE. The solution delivers automated capture and extraction of invoice data, intelligent matching to supplier and PO information, straight-through processing into MRI QUBE, and an interface designed for AP teams. This let Innovus remove manual data entry for most invoices, improving speed, accuracy, and team productivity.
